Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has given the green light for City Hall to allow five types of businesses, including spas and beauty clinics, to reopen from Monday.
The decision was posted on “Prayut Chan-o-cha” Facebook page last night that after careful consideration, there is a consensus that the COVID-19 outbreak is under control in Bangkok. As a result, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s proposal to allow five types of business to resume operations is approved.
The businesses are museums, public parks, beauty clinics, tattoo shops and nail salons, and massage parlours (but only for foot massage). The relaxation of restrictions begins tomorrow.
Saunas were not part of the proposal.
With regard to other businesses such as restaurants and tourist attractions, the prime minister said he will continue to monitor the situation and implement similar measures when it is believed safe to do so.
Gen Chan-o-cha had initially put the brakes on City Hall’s plan, saying that he wanted more two weeks to evaluate the situation.
