Undisputed heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk is vacating his IBF title, leading to an anticipated showdown between Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois on September 21 at Wembley Stadium. Usyk, who defeated Tyson Fury to unify the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF titles, announced his decision via Instagram. Dubois, holding the IBF Interim belt, is the mandatory challenger.
Dubois and Joshua both aim to reclaim their positions at the top. Dubois, who lost to Usyk last year, has since won the IBF Interim strap by defeating Filip Hrgovic. Joshua, previously a unified world champion, has bounced back with victories over Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin, and Francis Ngannou.
Dubois expressed his determination to win the title, saying, “I’ll demolish Joshua.” Meanwhile, Joshua is ready for the challenge, stating, “I’ll turn up and do my job.”
