In Pattaya, a Thai couple riding their motorcycle in the incorrect direction collided with another rider. The woman who was riding on the back of her boyfriend’s motorcycle had a severe injury.
Sawang Boriboon rescuers raced to an accident site on Sukhumvit Road inbound to Sattahip near Pattaya Seven School around 7:30 PM yesterday, April 9th, in response to a report.
As the rescuers arrived, they discovered a blue Yamaha Spark and a black Honda CBR 150 motorbike on the road. Mr. Woraphol Sombuakhu, 56, was the owner of the first vehicle, which was heavily damaged. The second belonged to a Thai couple, Mr. Chaiya Insukan, 24, and Ms. Natthida Suksamran, 27.
Ms. Natthida had a big, gaping wound on her right knee. Rescuers took her and Mr. Chaiya, who was also slightly hurt, to a nearby hospital. Mr. Woraphol informed The Pattaya News that the couple allegedly drove in the wrong direction and crashed into him. They were also said to be fast. The two collided head-on with Woraphol’s motorcycle, but he was luckily unharmed.
Woraphol urged the pair to obey road laws in order to avoid accidents. It is unclear what legal charges the police would file against the two, but they planned to study CCTV to see if the injured pair was truly driving against traffic at high speeds.
