It’s not yet known what killed a young hawksbill sea turtle found dead on a beach in Rayong’s Ban Chang district on Monday night.
It was the third turtle found dead on a Ban Chang beach in the past month.
Fishermen from Ban Phayoon notified a network that rescues rare marine species, which turned the matter over to the Navy’s sea-turtle conservation centre.
Its veterinarian Kirin Sornpipattanacharoen said the 40-centimetre-long turtle was one or two years old and appeared to have been dead a day or two, but it would have to be dissected to determine the cause of death.
