The recent arrest of 26-year-old Mr. Jirawat Aoworn by the Banglamung police in Chonburi province highlights ongoing efforts to crack down on drug-related offenses in Thailand. On September 9th, 2024, the Banglamung police, led by Pol. Col. Navin Sinthurat, detained Mr. Jirawat in the Nong Irun area of Baan Bueng. Along with his arrest, authorities seized methamphetamine pills, gray plastic bags, a purple iPhone 11, and a Honda motorbike.
A subsequent urine test conducted on Mr. Jirawat indicated the presence of narcotic substances. He now faces charges for possession of a Category 1 narcotic with intent to distribute, which is a serious offense under Thai law, as well as for contributing to the spread of narcotics.
