Man City Hearing for 115 FFP Charges Set to Begin Soon

The hearing regarding Manchester City and the 115 alleged breaches of Premier League financial rules is scheduled to begin sooner than originally anticipated. According to reports, the independent commission will now start in September instead of November, barring any further legal delays.

An outcome from the hearing is expected in early 2025. The proceedings are set to last approximately ten weeks, with commission members tasked with delivering their verdict at the beginning of the new year.

The timing of this hearing has been influenced by the outcome of City’s separate legal case concerning the Premier League’s associated party transactions (APT) rules, which is expected to be revealed in the coming weeks. Sources indicate that City may have seen some success in this arbitration, paving the way for the September hearing.

If the most serious charges against them are upheld, Manchester City could face the threat of relegation. The alleged breaches consist of failing to provide accurate financial information over nine seasons, not disclosing full details of Roberto Mancini’s salary during his four seasons at the club, and not revealing complete information regarding players’ remuneration over six seasons.

Additionally, they have been charged with not cooperating with an investigation and failing to submit required documents over five seasons.

Manchester City has denied all allegations and maintains that they possess “irrefutable evidence” to clear their name.
