Two men have been arrested on murder charges

Two men from Cameroon and Myanmar have been arrested on suspicion of murdering a Taiwanese man at a hotel in Bangkok’s Bang Na area. A Thai woman is suspected of masterminding the crime.

The Metropolitan Police Bureau’s (MPB) investigation chief, Pol Maj Gen Theeradet Thamsuthee, stated on Friday that John Agbor, a 40-year-old Cameroonian, and Zwe Lin Pyae, 21, were arrested late Thursday night on Srinagarindra Road.

They were accused with the premeditated murder of Chu Chiang Shen, 48, whose body was discovered on Thursday morning in a room on the sixth floor of the Niran Grand Hotel on Udomsuk Soi 17 off Sukhumvit 103 (Udomsuk) Road. After the victim’s companion reported that they couldn’t reach the victim by phone, hotel staff members found the body.

According to Pol Maj Gen Theeradet, the arrested suspects, together with an unidentified white European guy who is still at large, targeted the victim’s riches based on information from a Thai woman who allegedly ordered the attack and claimed that the victim was wealthy.

To prepare for the crime, the gang hired another room on the fifth floor of the same hotel.

Around 1 a.m. on Thursday, the three suspects attacked the Taiwanese guy in his room. They restrained the victim by binding his head with a plastic food wrap sheet and securing his limbs with belts.

They did not find the victim’s money, but they did steal his laptop computer and mobile phone.
