The perpetrator’s parents have sought to communicate their message of sincere sorrow and apology for the occurrence on October 3, 2023, to the Situation Command Center (SCC).
“My family and I are very sorry about this. Our son’s activities at the Siam Paragon department store led to the recent shooting event, which we sincerely apologize for to the victims, the families of the deceased, and the injured. This includes members of the general public, travelers, proprietors of businesses and stores, those involved in the incident or nearby who were evacuated and troubled in any manner. It also includes the medical professionals, nurses, police, and all government representatives—whether Thai, Chinese, Myanmarese, or Lao. We lament terribly the harm done to the nation as a whole as well.
We are sorry that we did not inform the public sooner.
My family and I have been going through a legal process during this time. According to a Juvenile Court ruling, our kid is being held in the Juvenile Observation and Protection Center. My family and I decided against applying for bail because we want to work closely with the authorities to find the truth and make sure that the same horrific tragedy won’t happen again.
This occurrence has left us extremely upset and disturbed, and we take full responsibility for it. Aside from promising to cooperate with the authorities and any other agencies involved in the legal proceedings, we also want to say that we will do everything in our power to lessen the impact of this incident and support any efforts made to do so.
In the deepest corners of our hearts, with the utmost respect, my family and I would like to respectfully ask for forgiveness and send our profound apologies to the families of the deceased, the injured, and their families who were most touched by this catastrophe.
“Signed by the juvenile offender’s father/legal guardian” (PRD)
