Hong Kong Airlines Launches Flights To Phuket To Take Advantage Of Growing Demand

Hong Kong Airlines launches flights to Phuket in response to increasing demand.

Starting in the middle of June, the new service will run four times per week.

In order to accommodate the growing demand when the city is completely open for travel, Hong Kong Airlines is planning to expand its flight capacity. On June 16th, 2023, the carrier will launch a new service from Hong Kong and Phuket. Together with resumed service to Bali and Shanghai, the service joins the recently added route to Fukuoka, which starts on April 7.

The new route is a crucial component of Hong Kong Airlines’ larger strategy to improve and increase connections between Hong Kong and nearby locations. For regional travelers in the point-to-point and connecting sectors, the carrier seeks to make a variety of travel options available. The upcoming flight schedule between Phuket (HKT) and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) is mentioned below, but is subject to change before the route opens in June.

The flights will be flown by the Airbus A320 fleet of Hong Kong Airlines. The airline offers the narrowbody in both a mixed cabin and an all-economy version. The two-class aircraft has 152 total seats, eight in business class and 144 in economy. With an average seat pitch of 29 to 30 inches, the single-class variant accommodates 174 passengers.

Thailand: Why?

Millions of people visit Phuket, Thailand’s biggest island, each year. The island is situated on Thailand’s southern coast, close to the Andaman Sea and the Indian Ocean.

It continues to rank among the top vacation spots in the nation. The region is renowned for offering a variety of experiences, including surfing on white sand beaches, local culture in the old town, and sandy beaches. There are various sources of opposition on the path. Daily Airbus A330 service is provided by Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific.

The airport pair is also flown by HK Express, a wholly owned Cathay Pacific affiliate that operates under a different brand and as a low-cost carrier. With its whole fleet of Airbus A320 and A321 aircraft, the airline runs morning and evening services. The airport pair is frequently flown by Thai AirAsia as well. Through the summer, the service will be run by the carrier using its Airbus A320 fleet.

Strengthening local connectivity

Hong Kong Airlines is currently launching new services and adjusting its network strategy when the announcement is made. In order to address Southeast Asia’s growing demand for international transit and tourism, the carrier anticipates Phuket will further rely on Hong Kong’s connectivity as a regional hub in Asia. Before the peak travel season and summer vacations, the airline is expanding the leisure alternatives available on its network.

This month, Hong Kong Airlines is also extending its service to additional local locations. The airline will launch a brand-new service to Fukuoka on the southwest coast of Japan on April 7th, as Easy Flying has previously reported. The port city, which is among the biggest in the country, is renowned as the entryway to Kyushu.

The airline declared that beginning of Monday, April 17th, it would restart daily service to Shanghai Hongqiao and five-times-weekly service to Bali Denpasar. A widebody Airbus A330-300 from the company will travel both trips. In other news, Hong Kong Airlines started flying to Beijing Daxing International Airport earlier this month, becoming the first local airline in Hong Kong to offer service to both international airports in Beijing.
