The Student Loan Fund will in July begin deducting repayments of loans from the salaries of state employees, fund manager Chainarong Kajchapanan said on Thursday.
The monthly deductions will begin in the Comptroller General’s Department, then extend to other units of the Finance Ministry and finally cover the entire civil service, he said.
Deductions to the salaries of private-firm employees would begin by the end of the year, starting with major companies such as Charoen Pokphand Group and Krungthai Bank, as well as state enterprises such as the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, Chainarong said.
