Pattaya police successfully apprehended a 19-year-old Thai national, Wutthikrai Poonsang, who was involved in a robbery incident on Pattaya Walking Street on January 10th. The suspect is accused of snatching a gold necklace from a Thai woman named Amarin Kokaew.
Wutthikrai allegedly stole a gold necklace weighing 1 baht, valued at 32,000 baht, from Amarin on the previous day. He was arrested in a rented room on Sukhumvit Road in Central Pattaya. During the arrest, authorities confiscated a blue Yamaha Fino motorcycle, believed to have been used in the robbery.
Upon being apprehended, Wutthikrai admitted to the crime, confessing that he had sold Amarin’s necklace to a gold shop in South Pattaya for 22,000 baht. He stated that he used the money for personal expenses, online gambling, and settling his debts.
Amarin positively identified Wutthikrai as the perpetrator when asked to do so at Pattaya Police Station following the arrest. She expressed gratitude to the police for their swift response and efficient handling of the case. In an unexpected turn of events, Wutthikrai showed remorse for his actions, apologized to Amarin, and promised to refrain from engaging in criminal activities in the future.
The apprehension of the suspect was greatly aided by security footage. The videos depicted Wutthikrai riding his motorcycle while scouting potential victims before targeting Amarin. After the robbery, he fled along Pattaya Second Road, turned right onto Pattaya Central Road, and then left into Soi 14.
