A “heartbreaking” Christmas Eve pub shooting killed a woman and injured several others.
Merseyside Police, which is investigating a murder, responded to gunfire at the Lighthouse in Wallasey Village at 11.50pm on Christmas Eve.
The force stated a young woman was shot and died in the hospital.
Police reported three males hospitalized with gunshot wounds and several more hurt.
On Christmas Day, the incident dominated national news headlines in Wirral and Merseyside.
Crime scene remains vast. Behind the barrier are discarded glasses and bottles.
Wallasey MP Dame Angela Eagle called the event “heartbreaking” and urged witnesses to contact police.
She tweeted: “This is devastating news – My prayers are with the family of the woman who died & those who are injured.
“Please inform the cops.”

He said finding words of optimism in “such a dreadful scenario” is difficult and that the Christmas morning ceremony will no longer be “as much a celebration as it was going to be”.
Detective Superintendent David McCaughrean said: “This inquiry is at the very early stages and we understand that this is a genuinely tragic and devastating occurrence that has happened shortly before Christmas Day in a large arena full of young people.
“Several police at Wallasey Village are conducting detailed inquiries to establish what happened and take quick action.
“A woman tragically died at Christmas when numerous people were hospitalized. Our thoughts and sympathies are with the victim’s family.
The Lighthouse pub’s page on Facebook cancelled Christmas dinners and gave a heartfelt response:
It is understood that the lady who was shot in the head was just 26 years old. sources close to Pattayaone who know the pub well, told us ” I went to pick up friends just an hour before the shooting and my Niece’s friends saw it all , Just Horrible way to bring in the festive season!
