Pattaya Woman Escapes Harassment by Motorcycle Taxi Driver, Plans to File Complaint

A 23-year-old woman, identified only as Ms. Am, narrowly escaped a distressing encounter with a motorcycle taxi driver in Pattaya at around 8:45 PM on January 31.

After purchasing a new phone near the Sukhumvit intersection, Ms. Am sought a ride home. A motorcycle taxi driver initially declined but later returned and agreed to take her. During the ride, he made inappropriate comments about wanting a wife who worked in a hospital and invited her to his room to see his lingerie collection. When she declined, he proceeded to touch her legs, making her feel unsafe.

Sensing danger, Ms. Am asked to be dropped off at a nearby Lotus shopping mall instead of her residence. Once inside, she paid the fare and rushed into the store. The driver followed her, insisting on giving her a free ride elsewhere, but she refused. When her boyfriend called, the driver, skeptical of her claim, eventually left.

Ms. Am later reviewed CCTV footage and identified the driver wearing a “Makro” shirt with the number 5. She plans to file a formal complaint with Pattaya City Police to ensure further action is taken.
