A Thai woman has confessed to fatally shooting her husband’s fifth wife near their home in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
Officers from Ron Phibun Police Station and rescuers responded to reports of a shooting at a house in a plantation in the Ron Phibun district. Upon arrival, they discovered the body of 40-year-old Wassana, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to her neck, back, and leg. No one was present at the scene during the investigation.
Authorities reviewed security camera footage from a neighbor, which captured the sound of three gunshots before silence fell over the area. Later, 37-year-old Thanyaporn turned herself in at a police station, claiming she accidentally shot Wassana during an argument. She stated that her husband, Chatchai, witnessed the incident.
Thanyaporn reported that Chatchai fled the scene and hid in a cottage on a nearby mountain. Police located and arrested him. During questioning, Chatchai maintained his innocence but acknowledged that the shooting stemmed from jealousy related to him. He expressed regret to all of his wives and admitted he struggled to manage their feelings of jealousy.
Chatchai disclosed that he had five wives: Somjeen, Fahkram, Mayree, Thanyaporn, and Wassana. He lived with his fourth and fifth wives in the house where the shooting occurred. On the day of the incident, he explained that tensions escalated when his two wives argued over his attention to Wassana. To intervene, he fired a shot into the ground, but during the ensuing struggle for the gun, Thanyaporn accidentally shot Wassana.
The police have not yet revealed the specific legal charges against Thanyaporn, and it remains unclear whether Chatchai will face any charges as well.
