Jack Draper advanced to the fourth round of the US Open with a straight-sets victory over Botic van de Zandschulp, winning 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 at Flushing Meadows.
The British No. 1’s dominant performance came in just over two hours, setting him up for a clash with Tomas Machac in the next round. Van de Zandschulp had stunned reigning champion Carlos Alcaraz earlier in the tournament, but he couldn’t replicate that form against Draper.
Draper showcased his skill by converting five of eight break points while limiting Van de Zandschulp to just one successful break out of ten attempts. The match was highlighted by a key moment when both players struck the woodwork, with Draper maintaining composure throughout.
Reflecting on his performance, Draper said, “I’ve had a frustrating time with my batting this year. I know how good a player I can be and feel like I’ve got a lot of natural ability.”
He expressed gratitude for the chance to compete on such a big stage, eager for the opportunity to face Machac. “It’s a big chance for me, and I’ll be ready to take it,” he stated.
The next match promises to be a challenge as Draper aims for a spot in the quarter-finals. The excitement builds as fans look forward to his continued success at the tournament.
