Replying to shocked Twitter users, Victoria said: “I know, that’s kind of the disgusting thing about it – it’s one thing if you are drunk and trying to make a joke but someone took the time and effort to do it.

“I love the university – they have been so kind and understanding about other situations – it’s unfortunate this happened.”

The university was quick to respond and reassure students it was investigating the incident.

“This disgusting message was removed as soon as staff were made aware of it.

“It doesn’t reflect the values of the uni and the behaviour we expect within our community.

“We’re investigating to find who placed it there.”

The university added it was already working with the students’ union to raise awareness about sexual consent, and reiterated the standards of behaviour expected of all campus users.

“Misogyny is a hate crime in Nottingham, you can report it to the Uni and we’ll support you and make sure the problem is dealt with,” the university tweeted.

Victoria, 20, has since told her Twitter followers she believes the school knows who the culprit is.
