Tyson Fury announces two-fight deal with Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua agree on two-fight deal for 2021

Deontay Wilder first, then Anthony Joshua next. Likely twice.

On Twitter, Tyson Fury announced Wednesday that he and Joshua have agreed to terms on a two-fight deal for 2021. The first would be a unification bout between WBC heavyweight champion Fury and IBF-WBA-WBO champion Joshua.

All both of them have to do is win their next fight.

“Two-fight deal, Tyson Fury versus Anthony Joshua next year,” Fury said in his Twitter video. “One problem: I’ve just got to smash Deontay Wilder’s face right in, in my next fight, and then we go right into the Joshua fight next year.

“So there we are. The Gypsy King versus A.J. is on for next year but there is a hurdle in the road called the Bronze Bomber aka The Knockout King. I will get onto him and knock him spark out. Then we’ll get onto the big fight.”

Fury-Wilder III had been planned for July in Las Vegas, but was pushed to the fall because of the coronavirus pandemic. A new date has not yet been set. Joshua plans to fight Kubrat Pulev in November.

Fury handed Wilder his first career loss back in February, a seventh-round TKO. The two fought to a draw in 2018.

Fury is 30-0-1 with 21 knockouts, while Joshua is 23-1 with 21 knockouts. His lone loss came in 2019, which he avenged against Anthony Ruiz.

A venue and date for Fury-Joshua has not yet been set.
