Truck Driver Injured and Trapped in Collision on Sukhumvit Road, Drunk Driving Suspected

A serious accident on Sukhumvit Road in Pattaya left a truck driver injured and trapped after crashing into the rear of a pickup truck, with authorities suspecting alcohol involvement.

At 12:30 PM on February 22nd, the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Center received a report of a severe collision in front of the Crowntex gas station. Rescue volunteers, equipped with emergency tools, rushed to the scene.

Upon arrival, responders found a small white truck in the right lane with extensive front-end damage. The driver, identified as 44-year-old Mr. Suriyawong, was trapped inside with both legs pinned in the wreckage. Using hydraulic cutters, rescue workers freed him and discovered that both his legs were broken and severely deformed. He was immediately transported to Pattaya Patamakun Hospital for urgent medical treatment.

The crash involved two other vehicles, a pickup truck and a sedan, both sustaining damage. During an inspection of the truck, authorities found an ice cooler containing opened beer bottles, raising suspicions that Mr. Suriyawong may have been intoxicated or had fallen asleep at the wheel.

Police are conducting an alcohol test on the driver and reviewing surveillance footage to determine the exact cause of the accident.
