Rescue workers are currently attempting to reach three individuals trapped inside a high-speed railway tunnel that collapsed during construction last night in Pak Chong district.
The collapse occurred at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday in Tambon Chan Thuek while two workers were operating backhoes to excavate the tunnel. A foreman, who had just arrived by car, became the third person trapped. There was no rain at the time of the incident.
The collapse took place approximately 600 meters from the tunnel entrance. Rescue teams are using excavators in their efforts to reach the trapped individuals.
This tunnel is part of a 251-kilometer section of the Sino-Thai high-speed rail link being constructed between Bangkok and Nakhon Ratchasima, with completion expected in 2028.
