Three Dead Seven Injured in Hotel Fire

Three Dead, Seven Injured in Hotel Fire Near Khao San Road

A devastating fire broke out at The Ember Hotel on Tanee Road, near Khao San Road in Bangkok’s Phra Nakhon District, late Sunday night, resulting in three fatalities and seven injuries.

The blaze began around 9:21 PM on the fifth floor of the six-story hotel. Firefighters managed to control the flames within an hour.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt reported that approximately 40 people were inside the hotel at the time. Many were evacuated from the rooftop using fire truck ladders.

Tragically, a foreign woman was found deceased in Room 502. Two foreign men, who were seriously injured, succumbed to their injuries at the hospital. Authorities are still working to identify the victims.

The seven injured include two Thai men, a Japanese man, a foreign woman, a German man, a German woman, and a Chinese man.

Governor Chadchart stated that while firefighters swiftly extinguished the fire, he has ordered the hotel closed for safety inspections.

Bangkok police chief Pol Lt Gen Sayam Boonsom confirmed that the fire originated in Room 511 on the fifth floor. Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
