‘Thinnest House In London’ Goes Up For Sale For Just Under £1m

Thinnest House

A house thought to be the narrowest in London is up for sale for almost £1 million.

The five-floor property measures just 5ft 5in wide in some parts, but offers two bedrooms, kitchen, dining room and bathroom, as well as a roof terrace and a garden to the rear.

The house, which is situated between a private clinic and a hairdresser in Shepherd’s Bush, is on the market for £995,000 ($1.3 million), which is double what it last sold for, 11 years ago.

The cute house is pretty swish inside, with an Aga in the kitchen, parquet floor, an original art deco bathtub and patterned wallpaper.

Simon Waller, who works at Winkworth which is selling the property, told The Telegraph: “It was terribly bohemian.

“You could get lost in the different worlds over the five floors.

“Each owner has sprinkled their own fairy dust on it.

“The current owner likens it to a classic car – she’s tinkering with it constantly.”

Although it’s just 5ft 5in at its narrowest, the dining room is a much roomier 9ft 11in, while the master bedroom is 20ft by 6ft.

The property’s description promises a ‘quirky and charming’ home and also claims it is ‘quite probably the thinnest in England’.

Keen to give it a run for its money in the space stakes, however, is an adorable little house on the Llyn Peninsula, in Gwyned.

The teeny terraced house, which went on sale last month with an asking price of £72,500 ($93,700), is barely big enough to fit a double bed but has been described as ideal for first-time buyers.

The adorable property offers a living room (with the added benefit of a dining table in the corner) and a kitchen to the ground floor, while up on the the first floor there’s a decent-sized bathroom and a bedroom.

Up another flight of stairs, there’s an attic room that looks like it’s currently being used for wardrobe space – and there’s a small front yard.

Best of all, you’re just a short walk from the sandy beach at Nefyn, which is popular with residents and holidaymakers.

Small house, anyone?
