Thief snatches Chinese tourist’s bag in front of police booth in Naklua

Thief snatches

A thief snatched a bag from a Chinese tourist in front of a police box in Bang Lamung yesterday evening, January 23, 2020.

Lieutenant Nattajak Lorchotanan of the Bang Lamung Police was notified of the incident at 8:00 PM on Naklua Road near the Lan Poe Market.

Police and The Pattaya News arrived at the scene 50 metres from a police booth to find 23-year-old Ms Fenyi Liu, a Chinese national.

She told police that she and her friend were walking to a tour bus. A Thai male suspect on a motorbike had snatched her bag before speeding away.

Inside the bag she had her passport and 15,800 baht cash, she told The Pattaya News. She called for help from local residents nearby who called police. It was not clear if police were present at the police booth at the time of the incident.

Police are continuing their investigation to find the suspect. The theft of bags from tourists has become a regular problem in the Pattaya area. Two suspects were arrested last month in the theft of bags from two Russian tourists, however several cases remain unsolved.
