Thailand Covid 19 UPDATE

There were 9,869 new Covid-19 cases and 92 more fatalities recorded during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry reported on Tuesday morning.

There were 9,596 cases in the general population and 273 among prison inmates.

The number of new cases fell from the 9,930 announced on Monday, when the country recorded 97 more deaths.

On Monday, 11,152 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.

Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,628,368 Covid-19 patients, 1,504,229 of whom have recovered to date.

Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,657,231 Covid-19 cases, with 1,531,655 complete recoveries so far.

The death toll stood at 17,109 during the third wave and 17,203 since the beginning of the pandemic.

The kingdom’s 24-hour high of Covid-19 fatalities was 312 recorded on Aug 18. The highest number of cases was 23,418 on Aug 13.

The 92 new fatalities were between the ages of 33 and 97 years old and included three Myanmar nationals

Bangkok logged the most new deaths, with 23, while a further 14 were reported in the adjacent provinces of Samut Prakan (8), Pathum Thani (4) and Samut Sakhon (2).

Other central plain provinces further from the capital recorded 27 more deaths – in Rayong (11), Chon Buri (5), Saraburi (3), Suphan Buri (2), Lop Buri (1), Kanchanaburi (1), Phetchaburi (1), Ratchaburi (1), Chanthaburi (1) and Chachoengsao (1).

The Northeast had 7 new fatalities – in Nakhon Ratchasima (3), Surin (2), Loei (1) and Ubon Ratchathani (1).

The South reported 14 more deaths – in Nakhon Si Thammarat (4), Phuket (3), Narathiwat (3), Chumphon (2), Ranong (1) and Surat Thani (1).

The North saw 7 new fatalities – in Tak (3), Nakhon Sawan (2), Uttaradit (1) and Sukhothai (1)

The 9,869 new cases included 9,759 local infections and 17 imported cases. Of the local infections, 8,715 were confirmed at hospitals and 864 via mass testing.

Bangkok had 1,224 new cases, followed by 577 in Samut Prakan, 555 in Chon Buri, 530 in Pattani, 468 in Songkhla, 461 in Narathiwat, 457 in Nakhon Si Thammarat, 431 in Yala, 357 in Samut Sakhon and 318 in Rayong.

Greater Bangkok reported 2,465 new cases and 37 new deaths. Four southern border provinces had 1,890 new cases and 3 new fatalities, while 67 other provinces recorded 5,224 new cases and 52 new deaths.

The 17 imported cases were from the United Arab Emirates (2), Qatar (1), Russia (5), the United States (1), Sweden (6) and Malaysia (2).

On Monday 108,373 people received Covid-19 treatment at hospitals, including 3,013 seriously ill patients and 701 dependent on ventilators.

Global Covid-19 cases rose by 339,108 in 24 hours to 236.16 million. The worldwide death toll went up by 4,808 to 4.82 million.

The US had the most cases at 44.68 million, up 72,947 and the most deaths at 722,260, up 674. Thailand ranked 27th by its accumulated cases of 1.66 million.
