A Chinese man named Ken shared his heartbreaking story with the People’s Lawyer Team Foundation, alleging that his Thai wife cheated on him and left with assets valued at over 100 million baht.
Ken met with Sittra Biabangkoed, the foundation’s lawyer and secretary, on September 11 to seek help for himself and his young son. With no local friends or connections, Ken turned to the foundation for assistance. He explained that he had been in a relationship with his Thai wife for seven years, marrying three years ago. They have a two-year-old son, and their relationship appeared stable until June, when Ken traveled back to China.
Upon returning to Thailand, Ken discovered that some of their joint assets, including 13 million baht in savings, had disappeared. Each time he returned from China, more valuables were missing, leading to repeated arguments between the couple. While their relationship seemed to improve in July, his wife asked for a divorce, citing her desire to run for a seat in the General Election, which she claimed she could not do while married to a foreigner.
Ken agreed to the divorce after she promised they would remain close. However, she began gradually moving her personal belongings and valuables out of their home, and by September 4, nearly everything had been removed, including alcohol, clothing, and smaller valuables.
Ken later learned that she had taken valuable assets such as jewelry, designer bags, and properties, with a total value exceeding 100 million baht. He also discovered that she had been living with another man, who owns an aviation training center, at a condominium in Bangkok. Ken’s attempts to confront the man and reclaim his assets were unsuccessful.
Feeling betrayed and unsure of his next steps, Ken sought help from the foundation. Sittra plans to assist Ken in filing a theft complaint against his ex-wife and her lover. Since many of the assets were acquired during their marriage, Ken may be able to take legal action to recover them.
