Thai tourist city hit by drought

The northern Thai tourist city of Loei is facing the most severe drought in 52 years and this has adversely affected the local tourism industry, the Thai-language daily Matichon reported March 4, 2019.

The level of water in Huay Nam Marn Lake has gone down, and this has affected local rafting operators.

Tourists now have to wade through low-level water for 50-60 meters before they can embark on the rafts, which will take them to see beautiful mountain scenery.

Apart from the lake, Leoi attracts a large number of tourists who enjoy trekking up the Phu Kradung Mountain, which is one of the popular landmarks in the province.
