Thai Man Found Dead Under Bed in Pattaya Apartment, Foul Play Suspected
A Thai man was found dead under his bed in a South Pattaya apartment, his body partially hidden and a towel stuffed in his mouth, raising suspicions of foul play.
Discovery of the Body
At 4:00 AM on April 2nd, Pattaya Police received a report of a mysterious death inside a rental apartment in South Pattaya. Police immediately rushed to the scene.
The scene was a four-story apartment building. Inside a room on the second floor, officers found the body of a Thai man, later identified only as Mr. Nai. He was completely naked, lying face down with the upper half of his body—head to mid-torso—wedged under the bed. A blue towel was stuffed inside his mouth, and there was a wound, approximately 4-5 cm long, on the right side of his abdomen. Blood had pooled around his body. It was estimated that he had been dead for at least three days, as the body had begun decomposing.
Crime Scene Investigation
Upon inspecting the room, police found no signs of a struggle or theft. However, at the foot of the deceased, there were dishes, condiments, a food container, and a soup bag scattered on the floor, suggesting he had been about to eat. On the bed, his mobile phone was plugged into a charger, and a fake firearm was also found. Under the bed, police discovered two suitcases, each measuring 20-24 inches, along with a cardboard box.
Witness Testimony
Mr. Sekson, 44, a bar owner in Jomtien and a close friend of the deceased, stated that the last time he saw Mr. Nai was on the night of March 28th. Mr. Nai had been drinking at his bar until around 8:00 AM on March 29th before taking a motorcycle taxi back to his room. After that, he became unreachable.
At around 2:00 AM on April 2nd, Mr. Nai’s friends grew concerned about his disappearance and decided to check on him at his apartment. They found the door locked from the inside. When they called his phone, it rang without being answered. Soon after, they noticed a foul smell emanating from the room. They then contacted the apartment owner to unlock the door with a spare key, only to discover Mr. Nai’s body under the bed. They immediately called the police. Mr. Sekson also noted that Mr. Nai always wore a five-baht gold necklace before his death.
Ongoing Investigation
Forensic officers have conducted a thorough examination of the scene, but due to the body’s state of decomposition, police have yet to determine the cause of death. The body has been sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital for a detailed autopsy to ascertain the exact cause of death.
