The pilot phase of the government’s N3 three-digit lottery successfully launched on Thursday, attracting large crowds to lottery shops eager to purchase tickets for this new state-owned game.
Thatsaneeya Thipthanesuan, owner of a lottery shop on Jomphol Road in downtown, reported that by 9:30 AM, over 30 customers had already bought N3 tickets. To assist clients with the buying process and payments, her shop installed a smart TV connected to the Pao Tang app.
Many customers expressed a preference for the N3 lottery, noting that, unlike underground lotteries, it allows buyers to purchase as many “locked numbers” as they wish.
The N3 lottery’s testing phase, which began Thursday, will last for six months, with the first draw scheduled for November 1. According to Thanavath Phonvichai, spokesman for the Government Lottery Office (GLO), the N3 lottery aims to address issues of overpricing and black market ticket sales.
N3 tickets are available at all 400 GLO-registered lottery shops across the country. Buyers can choose any number from 000 to 999 and make purchases using digital payment systems at the shop. Purchased tickets will appear in the Pao Tang mobile app.
Tickets are priced at 20 baht each, with a maximum purchase of 100 tickets at a time. Winning numbers will align with the GLO’s bi-monthly lottery results. Each ticket has the chance to win prizes across four categories: three-digit straight, three-digit alternating, two-digit straight, and special prizes. Winners can claim their prizes through the app.
During this pilot phase, the GLO will gather data on sales, consumer impact, and related matters, with a full launch anticipated in April.
