Technical Glitch in Don Mueang Airport’s Check-In System Causes Delays
An issue with the automatic check-in system at Don Mueang Airport early Saturday morning led to long queues and flight delays, according to the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT).
The disruption began around 3am and impacted the SITA Passenger Service System (SITA PSS) for the Common Use Passenger Processing System (CUPPS) during a technical update. Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) president Kirati Kijmanawat stated that technicians worked urgently to resolve the problem, with the system starting to recover by 9.45am and expected to fully resume operations by noon.
To mitigate the inconvenience, airport staff were deployed to assist passengers. Travellers were advised to arrive at least three hours before their flights or check in online if they had no luggage.
One passenger reported that the system collapse delayed his flight to Nakhon Phanom province by about an hour.
The CAAT reminded airlines to uphold passengers’ rights in cases of delays or cancellations as required by law.
AoT apologised for the disruption and urged passengers needing assistance or information to contact its call centre at 1722 or public relations centre at 02 535 1192.
