Luigi Mangione, a 26-year-old man, has been charged with the murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, who was fatally shot in New York City last week.
Mangione was apprehended at a McDonald’s in Altoona, Pennsylvania, approximately 280 miles (450 kilometers) west of New York City, after being recognized by a customer at the fast-food restaurant.
Upon his arrest, police discovered a 3D-printed gun in his possession, along with a handwritten document that suggested his “motivation and mindset.”
Mangione later appeared in a Pennsylvania court for arraignment on five initial charges and was denied bail.
