The body of a villager in Surin’s Buachet district was found on Wednesday morning in the forest where he had gone missing 14 days ago.

Villagers found the body of Chaiyos Thosatham, 24, in the middle of the Huay Thap Than-Huay Samran Wildlife Sanctuary in Tambon Charas on Wednesday morning and promptly alerted teams of officials that had persisted in their search for him.

Learning that his body had been found, Chaiyos’ relatives rushed the scene and confirmed its identity.

The relatives and rescue workers took turn to carry the body about 10 kilometres out of the forest to a temple in their village, and promptly held a cremation rite.
