On Thursday morning, a semi-naked German national went over an eighth-floor balcony at a Pattaya condominium and threatened to jump.
The 61-year-old man, named as Heinz Edgar Eugen, stood on the top-floor apartment’s exterior ledge wearing just his underpants. He also threw stuff down from the apartment in Chonburi’s Bang Lamung district.
After the man refused to return to the room, his wife, who declined to be identified, contacted Pattaya police.
According to the woman, her husband began smoking marijuana heavily around 3 a.m. He was stressed, she explained, because of a legal matter in another country.
“He began shouting and couldn’t stop himself.” He yelled that he didn’t want to live any longer. Then he climbed out of the balcony, saying he intended to kill himself,” Pattaya police described the wife as saying.
Police attempted to persuade him to return to the residence for five hours without success. Officers were eventually able to seize the man and drag him to safety. He was afterwards sent to Banglamung Hospital for rest and recovery
