Kim Yong-hyun, South Korea’s former defense minister who took responsibility for the president’s unsuccessful effort to impose martial law last week, has reportedly attempted to take his own life while in detention.
Authorities discovered him during the incident at the detention center on Tuesday, according to Shin Yong-hae, the chief of the justice ministry’s correctional agency, who provided details to lawmakers.
