Kim Sae-ron, a 24-year-old South Korean actress known for her promising talent, was found dead at her home in Seoul, according to the Yonhap news agency. A friend discovered her unresponsive and contacted the police, who found no indications of foul play at the scene.
Kim was celebrated for her roles in several box-office hits and most recently starred in the Netflix series Bloodhounds, released in 2023. Despite her rising stardom, her career faced significant challenges after a drunk driving incident in 2022, which led to a fine of 20 million won (£11,000) and her withdrawal from acting.
Although she attempted a return to the industry last year, health issues ultimately led to her stepping back again. Kim first gained recognition in 2009 with her role in A Brand New Life, which showcased her talent at the Cannes Film Festival, followed by popular performances in films like A Girl At My Door and Mirror Of The Witch.
Authorities are currently investigating the cause of her death but have not released additional details.
