Smog surges in all areas of Bangkok

Smog Surges: The Pollution Control Department (PCD) says the amount of PM2.5 (particulate matter) escalated above the average in all areas of Bangkok on Tuesday, especially Rama II Road in Samut Sakhon where the level of air pollution exceeded 100 micrograms per cubic metre and posed a threat to health.

According to the Air4Thai application, the level of ultra-fine pollutants soared above the average of 50 micrograms per cubic metre in 36 areas, including Bangna, Bangkapi, Din Daeng, Thonburi and Lat Phrao. Air pollution was also detected in the vicinity of Nonthaburi, Pathum Thani, Samut Prakan, Nakhon Pathom, and Samut Sakhon.

Related agencies are now stepping up measures to curb the toxic haze, including spraying water, banning burning activities and publicizing the health effects of smog. People are urged to use public transport, avoid burning garbage and agricultural waste, and are advised to wear face masks when going outdoors.
