The first incident took place around 12:30 PM when four Czech tourists kayaking near Koh Yuak capsized due to unexpectedly strong winds and choppy seas. Rescuers acted swiftly, pulling all four individuals from the water. One tourist sustained minor injuries, which were treated with first aid at the shoreline. The group was later transferred safely back to their tour boat.
As officials were wrapping up their assistance to the Czech group, they spotted a second emergency at 2:30 PM near Koh Suwan. Two Russian tourists were seen struggling against the rough seas, unable to paddle back to safety. Rescuers immediately intervened and successfully brought the pair to shore. Fortunately, both individuals were unharmed and were later returned to their hotel.
The incidents have raised concerns about water safety, particularly during periods of unpredictable weather. Authorities attributed the accidents to the tourists’ unfamiliarity with local sea conditions and the sudden onset of strong winds that made kayaking hazardous.
In response, officials have urged all visitors to exercise caution when participating in water activities. Tourists are strongly advised to check weather forecasts before venturing out, wear life jackets at all times, and adhere to safety guidelines provided by local authorities and tour operators. Efforts are also being made to increase awareness about the risks posed by changing weather conditions and to improve safety measures at popular tourist destinations.
These incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of preparedness and vigilance while enjoying marine activities in Thailand’s coastal regions.
