Russian Tourist Found Dead in Na Jomtien Apartment

A tragic incident occurred in Na Jomtien, Sattahip, on the night of January 8th, when a 39-year-old Russian tourist was found dead by hanging in his apartment.

At approximately 11:00 PM, local authorities received a report about the discovery of a foreign national’s body in a second-floor apartment in the Na Jomtien area of Chonburi province. Na Jomtien police, accompanied by rescue workers from the Sawang Rojanatham Foundation, promptly arrived at the scene to investigate.

The victim, identified as Mr. Batsevichus, was discovered nude and hanging from an orange nylon rope tied to a wardrobe handle. Police estimated that the man had been deceased for 5 to 10 hours before being found. Preliminary examinations revealed no signs of assault or foul play, leading authorities to suspect suicide as the likely cause of death.

The room showed no evidence of a struggle or forced entry. According to investigators, the discovery was made by a friend of the deceased, who had visited after being unable to reach him. Using a spare key provided by the accommodation, the friend entered the room and was shocked to find Mr. Batsevichus in this tragic state. Authorities were immediately contacted.

The body was removed from the scene and sent to the Institute of Forensic Medicine at the Police General Hospital for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The Russian embassy has been notified to inform the victim’s family and provide necessary assistance.

While suicide is the preliminary theory, police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident to rule out other possibilities. The tragic loss serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and support for individuals, especially those far from home.
