Russian Man Found Dead in Phuket, Police Investigate Possible Drug Link
Discovery of the Body
Phuket City police are investigating the death of a 41-year-old Russian man whose body was found at a residence in Koh Kaew.
Police Lieutenant Saruta Phumduang, Deputy Chief of Investigation at Phuket City Police, was alerted to the incident around 8 pm on March 2. Officers, along with forensic experts from Vachira Phuket Hospital, were immediately dispatched to the scene.
Initial Investigation and Findings
Upon arrival, authorities discovered the Russian man’s body on the floor. No visible signs of assault were noted.
His girlfriend reportedly found him around 6 pm and, upon checking, realized he had already passed away. However, the police report did not clarify the time gap between her discovery and when the authorities were notified.
At the scene, police found a syringe and a white powdery substance on a coffee table near the deceased. Some of the substance was on a teaspoon, with a lighter placed nearby, raising suspicions of possible drug involvement.
Forensic Analysis Underway
The Phuket Provincial Forensic Science Office has been tasked with analyzing the white powder to determine its composition and whether it played a role in the man’s death.
Photographs from the scene also showed books on the table, leading investigators to consider whether the man was attempting recovery at the time of his passing. Police have confirmed that their investigation is ongoing to establish the exact cause of death.
