Rizwan Guides Pakistan to Vital Win Over Canada in T20 World Cup

In a crucial T20 World Cup clash at New York’s Group A, Pakistan secured a vital seven-wicket victory over Canada, thanks to a composed unbeaten half-century by Muhammad Rizwan.

Canada managed to post a total of 106-7, with Aaron Johnson impressing with a quickfire 52 runs off 44 balls, featuring four sixes. However, Pakistan’s bowling attack, led by Mohammad Amir (2-13) and Haris Rauf (2-26), restricted Canada’s scoring opportunities.

In response, Pakistan’s chase was anchored by Rizwan (53* off 53 balls) and Babar Azam’s (33 runs) partnership of 63 runs for the second wicket. Despite the loss of Azam, Rizwan steered Pakistan towards the target, ensuring victory with 15 balls to spare.

With this win, Pakistan keeps their hopes alive in the tournament, needing to beat Ireland in their final match to secure a spot in the Super 8s. Although Canada faces a tough road, they could still qualify mathematically by defeating India in their last pool game.

For Pakistan, the victory comes as a relief after a disappointing start to their World Cup campaign, including a shock defeat to the United States and a missed opportunity against India. However, the win against Canada provides a much-needed boost for the team, with hopes still alive for a turnaround in fortunes.
