Residents of East Pattaya claim that the clanging sewer grates are keeping them awake.
According to Chujit Pengsawat, 47, the surface of Soi Mabyailia 42 has been in disarray for two months as a result of a 7.7 million baht construction project that was completed in September.
After installing new drainage pipes beneath the street, Nongprue Subdistrict paid 7.2 million baht to resurface the road with concrete. However, residents criticized the installation of the sewer grates as being, to put it mildly, subpar. The grates have been free from their mounts ever since the road was resurfaced, and they now clank and clang whenever a car passes over them. The grates have been rewelded countless times by Nongprue roadworkers, but according to Chujit, they shatter once again in as little as a day.
According to her, locals are exhausted and agitated, and some of their neighbors have turned to sleeping medications.
Locals urge Nongprue to resolve the issue permanently.
