Police Crack Down on Unregistered Bolt Drivers

Pattaya police conducted a crackdown on vehicle misuse, particularly targeting Bolt drivers, resulting in several arrests. The operation took place on October 15 at Bali Hai Pier, where police collaborated with city officials to enforce traffic regulations and address improper vehicle use.

During the operation, 15 Bolt drivers were arrested for using vehicles not aligned with their registered purposes, while another five drivers were apprehended for parking over the red-and-white lines. All drivers cooperated with authorities.

Although Bolt operates legally in Thailand, drivers must properly register their vehicles as public transport, obtain a public transport license, pay appropriate taxes, and register with Pattaya City Hall as taxi drivers, completing mandatory training. Many drivers use personal vehicles to circumvent these requirements, according to Pattaya City officials.

The city emphasizes that these measures are intended to ensure passenger safety, not to generate revenue or create inconvenience for app-based drivers. Authorities have pledged to continue these enforcement efforts.
