Police Crack Down on Chinese Gang Leader “Bobby” After Violent Assault in Pattaya

Police Region 2 has intensified efforts to dismantle organized crime in Pattaya, focusing on “Bobby” (Li Jiarui), the leader of a Chinese gang accused of assaulting and kidnapping a business rival in a violent dispute. The case, involving rival entertainment businesses, has drawn significant public attention due to its severity.

On September 14, Chen Jing, a Chinese businessman and co-owner of a prominent nightclub in Pattaya, was brutally attacked by Bobby’s gang in front of a club on Pattaya Third Road. The altercation reportedly stemmed from disputes over business shares. Bobby’s gang demanded Chen sell his shares and resorted to violence when he refused.

Months of little progress in the investigation prompted Chen to seek assistance from immigration authorities, leading to renewed efforts to apprehend the suspects. Acting on a court-issued search warrant, over ten officers raided Bobby’s luxury home in Khao Talo, East Pattaya. However, Bobby was not found, with his wife claiming he had left in an orange Porsche and could not be reached.

During the raid, no illegal items were discovered, though police noted a Lexus van parked outside, sparking further questions about the gang’s operations. Bobby’s home previously attracted attention after authorities found two pet lions during an earlier investigation.

On January 22, arrest warrants were issued for eight suspects, including five Chinese nationals and three Thais, on charges of assault, coercion, unlawful detention, and theft involving vehicles. Bobby remains at large, and authorities suspect he is still in Thailand. Border security has been tightened to prevent his escape to neighboring countries.

The case has ignited public outrage and calls for stricter enforcement against foreign criminal networks operating in Pattaya. Local authorities face mounting pressure to address high-profile crimes while maintaining public safety.

Police have urged the public to provide information on Bobby’s whereabouts and other suspects, reaffirming their commitment to bringing all involved to justice.
