Police Arrest Man with Seven War Weapons

Police Arrest Man with Seven War Weapons and 8,000 Rounds of Ammunition in Samut Sakhon

A 28-year-old man, identified as Phatthakorn, has been arrested following a police raid that uncovered a cache of weapons and ammunition. The operation was led by officers from the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) and local authorities.

According to Pol Maj Gen Noppasil Poolsawat, deputy MPB commissioner, authorities seized one M79 rifle, six AK rifles, 17 magazines, and approximately 8,500 rounds of ammunition from the suspect’s residence in tambon Don Deekai.

The arrest follows a prolonged investigation into a major weapons trading gang. An earlier raid on the same property had yielded no results, but police learned on Friday that the gang was preparing to move some of the weapons. Officers staked out the suspect’s house and discovered the weapons and ammunition in two vehicles parked on the premises.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to smuggling the weapons and ammunition from Aranyaprathet in Sa Kaeo province, near the Cambodian border, to Krathum Baen, where they were temporarily stored before being delivered to other locations. He claimed to have received 20,000 baht per smuggling operation.

The suspect had faced previous charges for illegal gun possession in Nonthaburi’s Sai Noi district. Authorities are now extending their investigation to identify and apprehend the mastermind behind the operation.

Pol Maj Gen Noppasil reaffirmed the MPB’s commitment to dismantling the weapons trafficking network.
