Plus-size model Tess Holliday

Plus-size model Tess Holliday slips into a plunging floral swimsuit as she frolics in the waters at Malibu Beach

She has been incredibly vocal when it comes to fighting for body positivity.

And Tess Holliday, 34, looked happy and relaxed as she hit the beach in sunny Malibu Beach, California on Wednesday.

Cooling off from the scorching temperatures in the water, the plus-size model appeared to be in her element as she took a much-needed break from her hectic work commitments.

Tess – who is sons Bowie, three, and Rylee, 12 – showed off her stylish flair as she donned a perilously plunging tropical-colored floral swimwear.

The fashionable one-piece also put emphasis on her impressive collection of tattoos on her legs and arms.

The Mississippi native relied on her naturally photogenic features as she forewent make-up for her day out in the sun.

She left her long brunette locks un-styled as she ensured to make the most of her time at the beach by hitting the water.

Tess is unapologetically confident when it comes to body confidence and regularly takes to her Instagram account to relay the message of body positivity and confidence to her followers.

She is a frequent uploader of naked snaps alongside inspiring captions and has previously slammed lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret for ‘only caring about marginalized groups.’

Earlier this year Tess hit back at her critics who insisted plus-size people can’t be in shape, revealing that she drives more than two hours a day to work out with her trainer three times a week.

Taking to Instagram she wrote: ‘I drive over 2 hours to train with @massy.arias 3x a week. That’s commitment. So don’t tell me what folks in bigger bodies aren’t capable of, because we will prove you wrong ever time.’

Meanwhile, the model struggled with delayed postpartum depression last year, which led her to start taking medication and seeing a life coach.

While dealing with her mental health, Tess also started eating healthier. However, as a champion for self-acceptance, she admitted that she worries what her fans will think about the shift.

‘I feel guilty,’ she told Self last June. ‘The amount of people [who] get thrust into the limelight and they’re plus size? They lose weight. The more successful they get, the more weight they lose. It’s hard because those people don’t owe staying fat to anyone.’

Tess noted that people with bigger bodies often feel a ‘sense of betrayal’ when plus-size public figures lose weight, and she is among those who have wondered if their weight loss was their choice or something that they were pressured to do.

‘It’s none of my business and you just have to let people live and do their own thing, but I feel guilty saying I eat well and that I’m active and that I do all those things,’ she said.

‘I’ve realized that through loving yourself, at least for me personally, that means I take care of myself more.’
