Phil Collins suffers stage fall on Not Dead Yet tour after being pictured in wheelchair

Phil Collins

Phil Collins suffered a fall on stage in North Carolina just a day after being pictured looking frail in a wheelchair.

The 68-year-old Against All Odds singer can only walk short distances with a stick as a result of debilitating back pain but has continued on his Not Dead Yet tour of the US, performing sitting on a chair.

Collins was watching his 18-year-old son Nicholas perform a drum solo on stage in Charlotte on Sunday night, as he walked to a chair on the side of stage and sat down, falling backwards.

Video footage posted on celebrity news website TMZ.com shows the former Genesis star fall backwards as he sits back down in the chair, while shocked members of the audience can be heard screaming.

Several crew members rushed to Collins’ aid and two helped him back up to a seated position. The show went on and further video footage online sees the singer playing a lively hand drum solo of his own from his seated position.

Just one day earlier the In The Air Tonight star was pictured by Splash News looking frail as he was pushed in a wheelchair from his car to his hotel in Atlanta.

Collins has had multiple surgery on his back which has caused him to suffer from ‘drop foot’, causing one foot to drag and making it difficult to walk. He also suffers a nerve condition which means he can no longer hold drumsticks.

The Easy Lover singer announced he was coming out of retirement in October 2016, and was originally due to launch his comeback world tour with five nights at London’s Royal Albert Hall, tickets for which sold out in 15 seconds.

But in June 2017, following a fall on the way to the bathroom, Collins was forced to cancel the shows and reschedule them for November.

His Still Not Dead Yet Tour ends in Las Vegas on October 19th, but Collins is still due to play a further 10 shows.
