According to Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, secretary general of the Thai Public Health Ministry, there was an increase in serious injuries resulting from traffic accidents during this year’s Songkran holiday, and 91% of those serious injuries were brought on by people failing to utilize seat belts.There were 17,775 injuries, up 19.26% from the previous year, according to statistics gathered between April 11 and April 16. Additionally, there were 232 deaths, which was a reduction of 26.81% from the previous year. 3,814 of the injured, an increase of 81.84%, needed to be hospitalized.
