Pattaya Security Guard Calls for Quick Police Action After Snatch Theft
PATTAYA, Thailand – A 68-year-old security guard, Somkuan Chitphak, has appealed for swift police action after becoming the victim of a snatch theft on March 3. The suspect stole Somkuan’s Samsung A02 smartphone, valued at approximately 4,000 baht, in the early hours of February 28. Somkuan promptly reported the theft to the Pattaya City Police Station.
According to Somkuan, he was on duty at his usual post when a man, estimated to be between 30 and 35 years old, arrived on a motorcycle and asked for a drink of water. After finishing the water, the suspect asked for 20 baht, but Somkuan declined. The suspect then started a conversation before suddenly snatching Somkuan’s phone and fleeing on his motorcycle. Despite his efforts to chase the thief, Somkuan, due to his age, was unable to catch up.
Thankfully, CCTV footage captured the entire incident, which has been handed over to Pattaya police. Investigators are currently reviewing the footage and conducting further inquiries to identify and arrest the suspect.
The elderly victim has expressed his distress and fear following the theft, urging authorities to take swift action to apprehend the perpetrator and restore his sense of security while continuing his duties.
