The repairs to Walking Street should be finished by August, not September as the Provincial Electricity Authority announced last week, according to Pattaya’s new mayor.
On June 20, Mayor Poramet Ngampichet and members of the city council visited the construction site, which serves as the center of the city’s nightlife.
They declared the one-month delay reported on June 14 to be unacceptable.
Poramet and his team gathered information on the alleged issues that would make the PEA’s contractor take an additional month to complete a task that was meant to be finished in December.
Poramet estimated that up to 3 million visitors would come to Pattaya this year but omitted to indicate that the vast majority of them would be Thai
He did, however, add that after July, when the final Thailand coronavirus restrictions are released, things ought to significantly get better.
