Over 100 Million Baht in Assets Seized in Crackdown on Online Gambling Website

Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau Targets “Betflixgun” in Major Raid

In a major crackdown on online gambling, the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB) seized assets worth over 100 million baht following raids at three locations in Greater Bangkok, linked to the gambling website “Betflixgun.” The investigation, which stemmed from public complaints, revealed that the illegal website was generating a circulating revenue of around 20 million baht per month.

Arrests and Investigation Details

During a press event on Saturday, CCIB chief Pol Lt Gen Trirong Phiewphan announced that the bureau had obtained arrest warrants for 12 individuals believed to be behind the operation of the gambling website. So far, five Thai men suspected of acting as site administrators were arrested, along with another man allegedly responsible for withdrawing cash from automated teller machines (ATMs) as part of the money-laundering process.

Further investigation into the suspects led to coordinated searches at three locations in Greater Bangkok on Thursday: a house on Sanphawut Road in Bang Na district, another residence in Soi Pattanakarn 38 in Suan Luang district, and an apartment in Soi Ruamjit Pattana in Muang district, Samut Prakan province.

Seizure of Cash and Valuable Assets

At the three locations, authorities uncovered significant evidence, including more than 10 million baht in cash, several computers and laptops, mobile phones, bank passbooks, and ATM cards believed to be linked to the website.

In addition to the cash and electronic devices, the CCIB also seized a car, gold bars, gold amulets, jewellery, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, all valued at over 100 million baht.

Website Operation and Criminal Tactics

Trirong revealed that one of the suspects admitted to running the gambling website for approximately five years. He also disclosed that the gang, led by a Thai leader, regularly changed their addresses every two months to avoid detection by authorities.

Ongoing Cybercrime Efforts

The raid is part of the CCIB’s broader efforts to tackle cybercrime. Between January 1 and February 20, the bureau made arrests in 635 cybercrime cases, 298 of which were related to online gambling. In addition, the CCIB proposed the blocking of 9,394 URLs suspected of being linked to illegal activities between November 2024 and January 2025.

The seizure of assets and arrests mark a significant step in the ongoing battle against illegal online gambling operations in Thailand.
