NI man arrested on suspicion of murdering Thai prostitute with machete in Pattaya

He allegedly told medical staff he killed a woman and police took him back to the house where they found the dead woman in a bathroom

A Northern Ireland man was arrested after allegedly beating a Thai prostitute with a snooker cue and killing her with a machete in a drug-fuelled sex session.

Neil Henry Elliott, 46, allegedly told police yesterday he picked up the prostitute named “Onn” from the red-light street Soi Buakhao in Pattaya at around 10 pm on Wednesday.

Despite a Covid-19 lockdown and curfew, dozens of sex workers continue loitering
the streets of the seaside spot popular with expats.

Elliott is alleged to have visited the strip of closed bars, then allegedly took the woman to his rented bungalow where they had drug-fuelled sex with Yaba – a powerful form of methamphetamine – until early yesterday without sleep.

However, the pair allegedly started arguing and it is alleged Elliott battered “Onn” with a snooker cue until it snapped.

He allegedly told police when she resisted during the struggle, he stabbed her with a 60cm long machete.

Police officers picked up Elliott on a nearby street after he allegedly left the property and crashed a motorcycle.

He allegedly told the medical staff he killed a woman and police took him back to the house where they found the dead woman in a bathroom. Elliott was immediately arrested on suspicion of murder. He was handcuffed and hauled into a police pick-up truck before being taken to the station for questioning.

Police Colonel Chiddecha Songhong, from the Bang Lamung district station, said Onn was aged between 35 and 40.

He added: “We found the victim in the bathroom. She had stab wounds on her neck and on her right wrist.

“The suspect he met her on Soi Buakhao and took her home. He said they both used drugs which led to chaos and he attacked her until she was dead.”

Pictures from the property show the broken snooker cue on the blood-covered ground and the machete on the covered snooker table.

A large Northern Ireland flag was hanging at the entrance to Elliott’s single-storey property and police confirmed he was from here.

Colonel Songhong said officers detained Elliott after he allegedly admitted the crime.

He added: “We have not found his identification documents yet but he has admitted his crime.

“He will be remanded at the station for interrogation while the officers will search his house thoroughly again.

“There were bloodstains on the floor and blood on many areas of the room. A snooker cue was broken and a knife about 60cm with blood stains was on the floor.”
