Netflix’s latest medical drama, The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call, has become a sensation, with viewers binge-watching the series and many calling for a second season. Audiences are proclaiming it “way better” than The Good Doctor.
Adapted from the web novel Trauma Center: Golden Hour by Hansanleega and Hongbichira, this eight-part series follows Baek Kang-hyuk, a standout trauma surgeon who starts at a struggling university hospital. His unorthodox methods and confidence initially create tension among the staff, but he eventually earns their trust, transforming them into an elite trauma unit.
Directed by Lee Do-yoon and written by Choi Tae-kang, The Trauma Code stars Ju Ji-hoon alongside Choo Young-woo, Ha Young, Yoon Kyung-ho, and Jung Jae-kwang. Since its debut on January 24, viewers have been captivated by the gripping episodes, with many hardly pausing between them, as reported by Surrey Live.
Fans have taken to X (formerly Twitter) to express their admiration for the show. One user wrote, “After finishing Trauma Code, we definitely need more seasons. So good!!!” Another remarked, “#TraumaCodeHeroesOnCall is such a chaotic ride—one of the best medical series!”
Highlighting the show’s relevance, one viewer noted, “On-point depiction of hospital politics, especially regarding budget cuts and understaffing—plus the heartwarming and comedic scenes create an impactful story.” Another fan added, “2025 started great with a fantastic K-drama! Trauma Code not only brings to life the medical profession but also underscores the political chaos in its management.”
K-drama enthusiasts will be excited to know that The Trauma Code exists in the same universe as the beloved Hospital Playlist. In a fun Easter egg for fans, the first episode features a reference to Dr. Ahn Jeong-won, a fan-favorite character from the 2020 hit.
While fans eagerly anticipate news of a second season, Netflix has not yet announced a renewal, though the show’s rising popularity is a positive sign for its future.
